The agenda

Jake led the agenda.

Pat has scanned the marked register and we are getting setup with the data to campaign in Rocester alongside our campaign in Tutbury.

We are going to get extra happy new year cards printed and are looking for volunteers to leaflet in their own immediate areas.

We are planning an action day in Rocester later this month. We will be doing door knocking and leafleting and are looking for volunteers to take part around Rocester.

There will likely be another action day at Tutbury Community Forest Garden this month / early Feb: date TBA.

We are experiencing a small level of abuse from Reform voters on our social media posts. This is to be expected and shows we are doing the right thing.

We have debated the creation of new groups within our Green Party WhatsApp channel and we decided that people must ask before they can create new groups.

We organized an action day for today (Sunday) door knocking and leafleting in Tutbury which went great.

Cate is looking for volunteers to take part in removing brambles from Anglesea community garden on the 8th of February.

Achievements since last meeting:

Tom's litter pick at the library park in Burton went very well and he has asked for ideas as to where the next litterpick should be held.

Burton hope visit was very eye opening and it was very interesting seeing how much they do and how their organisation is set up. They provide support for the homeless. They provide food, clothes, sleeping bags and tents to the homeless and help them get into hotels. They are Open only in the evenings on the weekend 6-8 and are in desperate need of volunteers.

Other business

Geoff mentioned that he is supporting the call for national televised emergency broadcast warning the nation about the worsening climate crisis and would like other people to support him and the cause.

Alyson and Tony are asking people to donate old clothes and suitcases to the Refugee charity they volunteer (Derbyshire refugee solidarity).

Jack has asked that once the cycle lane on borough road in burton has been completed that we help him make a social media post about it and how great it is.

Overall the meeting was really constructive and enjoyable.

Thanks for everything you all do to contribute. If any members have areas that they feel they can help with or ideas for how we can work for and engage with our local communities please let us know, either by email or on the WhatsApp group.

Thanks Thom
